Sodium 2-ethylhexanoate is Mainly used for synthesizing isooctanoic acid and its calcium, magnesium salts, etc. It is also used as a salt forming agent for pharmaceuticals, a catalytic drying agent for paints, a stabilizer for polymers, a crosslinking agent, a thickener for oil products, and an additive for fuel oil energy-saving.

Sodium 2-ethylhexanoate can be used as a universal salting agent for the synthesis of cephalosporin and penicillin products.
