Calcium chloride, chemical formula CaCl2. It is a typical ionic halide and is a white solid at room temperature. It is used in brine, road deicing agent and desiccant for refrigeration equipment. Because it is easy to absorb moisture in the air, anhydrous calcium chloride should be stored in a sealed container. Calcium chloride and its hydrates and solutions have important applications in food manufacturing, building materials, medicine and biology.

Calcium chloride is an inorganic salt, which exists as solid or liquid. Solid calcium chloride is a white, crystal substance in the form of flake, granule, pellet or powder. With different crystallized water contents, it can be dihydrate or anhydrous. Liquid calcium chloride is a colorless, clear solution. As calcium chloride has such properties as quick dissolving, exothermic ability, attracting moisture from the air and surroundings, dissolving at very low temperature.

Application:

1.This chemical can be used as desiccant to remove dissolved water.

2.It is also applied to keep a liquid layer on the surface of the roadway, which holds dust down. 

3.Additionally, it can be used to prevent ice formation and to deice by depressing the freezing-point. 

4.And it is the source of calcium ions that is used to increase the hardness in swimming pools and to introduce bioavailable calcium for calcium carbonate shelled animals. 

5.It is used as a food additive and a firming agent used in food.

6. It can also be used in the brewing water to correct mineral deficiencies.

7. Furthermore, it is injected as intravenous therapy for the treatment of hypocalcaemia. 

8.And it can be used in hyperkalemia to protect the myocardium from dangerously high levels of serum potassium.
