Studies have shown that EG can inhibit the growth of oral squamous cell carcinoma, lung cancer, colon cancer and other tumor cells, and the proliferation inhibition of colon cancer cells Lovo is the strongest.
Separation methods: Silica gel column chromatography, SephadexLH-20 gel column chromatography and semi-preparative high performance liquid chromatography were used to separate and purify ethyl gallate from the layer of Euphorbium euphorbium. The growth inhibition effect of ethyl gallate on three kinds of tumor cells was observed by MTT method under different concentration and time conditions. Results: Ethyl gallate could inhibit the growth of LOVO cells of colon cancer, A549 cells of lung cancer and CAL-27 cells of oral squamous cell carcinoma. The maximum inhibitory rate reached (74.67 ± 0.47)%, (62.01 ± 1.27)% and (37.17 ± 2.12)%, respectively, after 72h treatment.
Conclusion: The ethyl gallate extracted from the layer of Euphorbia vulgaris has antitumor activity in vitro.
