Octyl methoxycinnamate (INCI); octinoxate, USAN name), trade name Eusolex 2292 or Uvinul MC80, is an organic compound used in certain sunscreen products, lip balms, and other beauty products to absorb the sun's ultraviolet rays (UVB) and protect the skin from their damage. It is currently the most commonly used UVB sunscreen. It is a transparent liquid insoluble in water at room temperature.

Application

2-Ethylhexyl 4-Methoxycinnamate is an UV induced cyclobutanes pyrimidine dimer (CDP) formation inhibitior.

Octinoxate is the drug name for the sunscreen chemical generally known as octyl methoxycinnamate and ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate.

2-Ethylhexyl-4-methoxy-cinnamate is used as UV-B-absorbing agent in sunscreens and cosmetic creams, lotions, lipsticks, sun oils, etc.

Function

1. It is used to prepare skin care cosmetics such as sunscreen (cream, milk, liquid), which can effectively absorb ultraviolet rays in the sun and prevent human skin from being red, sunburnt and sunning.

2. It is a drug for treating photosensitive dermatitis.
