Isoleucine is one of the 20 basic amino acids and is found in the structure of almost all proteins. Its chemical composition is exactly the same as leucine, but the arrangement is slightly different, resulting in different properties. Nutritionally, isoleucine is an essential amino acid for humans. Isoleucine is a hydrophobic amino acid. The three-letter abbreviation is ILE, and the one-letter abbreviation is I. Isoleucine has two antipalm centers, so there are four stereoisomers and two diastereomers of L-isoleucine. But in any case, there is only one type of naturally occurring isoleucine, L-isoleucine. Function

L-isoleucine is an essential amino acid, used in complex amino acid infusion and nutritional fortification, and is one of the three branched-chain amino acids, because of its special structure and function, it plays a particularly important role in human life metabolism. L-isoleucine is nutritionally related to valine and leucine which are similar in structure. Although it is a glycogenic amino acid, it has a slightly ketogenic effect. In vivo, A-methylbutyryl Coenzyme A, which is produced from isoleucine through amino transfer and decarboxylation, undergoes A similar decomposition of fatty acids to generate acetyl-Coenzyme A and propionyl-Coenzyme A, the latter becoming succinyl-Coenzyme A and entering the citric acid cycle.
