Function

It was used in perfumery for many years, very specifically in the chypre accord. However, due to its allergic potential is now banned from use in perfumery, and its widely replaced by the synthetic note called veramoss. 

This molecule has become a key ingredient in the aromatic fougere as well. A category of scent mostly appreciated by men.

There is evidence to suggest that it has antiandrogenic activity in humans and its use in the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia, prostate cancer, and spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy has been investigated.
