It is a brominated flame retardant, previously shown to be a multisite carcinogen in experimental animals. The compound is used as a fire retardant in unsaturated polyester resins, in molded products, and in rigid polyurethane foam. It shows clear evidence of carcinogenicity and genotoxicity activity.

Dibromoneopentyl glycol (RX-975) contains 60% fatty bromines and achieves a tighter flame retardant effect when used. It is a bromines derivative with bifunctional groups and a symmetrical structure and is an important organic reagent and pharmaceutical intermediate, with remarkable light stability and excellent UV resistance.

Application

It is a brominated flame retardant, previously shown to be a multisite carcinogen in experimental animals.  The compound is used as a fire retardant in unsaturated polyester resins, in molded products, and in rigid polyurethane foam.  It shows clear evidence of carcinogenicity and genotoxicity activity. Dibromoneopentyl glycol (RX-975) is a reactive flame retardant for use in rigid polyurethane foams, resins, coatings and other polymeric materials.  Its high bromines content and easy combination with polyurethane make it particularly suitable for use in rigid polyurethane foams.  It is also increasingly being used in free-form CFC foam systems to increase its flame retardancy rating.

This product is a reactive flame retardant with excellent properties. Suitable for unsaturated polyester resin, thermoplastic resin and polyurethane resin, can also be used for rigid polyurethane foam. Due to the structural characteristics of this product, the polymer has excellent flame retardancy, light stability and chemical resistance, and the dosage is small, and has no effect on the mechanical properties of the base resin. The mixture of this product and antimony trioxide is especially suitable for flame retardant fibers, which can form a melt with good fluidity and spinnability with polymers, and the mechanical properties of the flame retardant fibers are very good.

Usage

1.It is a reactive flame retardant containing 60% aliphatic bromines. It can be used in all kinds of thermosetting polyesters to provide wider selectivity of ester properties than anhydride flame retardants.
 

2.The resin prepared by it has high flame retardancy, minimal thermochromism and good light stability.
 

3.It is suitable for rigid polyurethane foam.
 

4.It is also widely used in the free-CFC foam system to enhance its flame retardant capability.
