Magnesium hydroxide (chemical formula: Mg(OH)2) is a magnesium hydroxide that is white crystal or powder, insoluble in water, and widely used as a flame retardant, antacid, and stomach acid neutralizer. The suspension of magnesium hydroxide in water is called magnesium hydroxide emulsion, or milk of magnesium for short, and is used to neutralize excess stomach acid and treat constipation.

Magnesium hydroxide is A white, bulky powder. It dissolves in dilute acids, but is practically insoluble in water and in alcohol. It is white or almost white, fine, amorphous powder, practically insoluble in water. It dissolves in dilute acids.

Usage

Magnesium hydroxide is used as PE, PP, PVC, unsaturated polyester, epoxy resin; In the chemical industry, used as flame retardant and filler for plastics, rubber and other polymer materials; In environmental protection as flue gas desulfurization agent, can replace causti c soda and lime as a neutralizing agent for acid waste water.

Magnesium hydroxide is an excellent flame retardant for plastic and rubber products. As a flue gas desulfurizer in environmental protection, it can replace caustic soda-and lime as neutralizing agent for acid-containing wastewater. It is also used as an oil additive for anticorrosion and desulfurization. In addition, it can also be used in the electronics industry, medicine, sugar refining, analytical reagent, alkalinge agent ,color retention, as insulation materials and manufacturing other magnesium salt products.
